GPA HOST 32ND INTERMODAL AFRICA CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION FEATURING 30 SPEAKERS, 20 COMPANIES & 200 DELEGATES FROM ACROSS THE WORLD

This is arguably the largest biannual gathering of maritime transport and logistics experts in Africa, and is being hosted by the Gambia Ports Authority in partnership with Transport Events Malaysia. This landmark event seeks to showcase The Gambia and broader West African ports, shipping, and transport logistics infrastructure with a view to attracting foreign investment and trade opportunities.

Over the course of the of the conference, 30 distinguished speakers addressed 200 delegates including experts, engineers, cargo owners and investors on pressing issues and challenges related to West Africa’s transportation and logistics sector. Participants at this international convergence also include key players in the region’s import and export sectors, notably, freight forwarders, and shipping lines.

In his opening address, Vice President Mohammed B.S Jallow, made a strong case for the Gambia Ports Authority, encouraging investors and international companies to consider doing business with the GPA, citing the country’s hospitality and political stability.

GPA Managing Director, Ousman Jobarteh, Ambassador Sering Modou Njie, Gambia’s Defense Minister, who represented the minister of Transport trade and infrastructure , and Dr. Rory James Doyle, Managing Director FCILT Transport Malaysia, echoed similar remarks. They urge delegates to explore business opportunities in the Gambia, further stressing the importance of the event.

Following the opening ceremony, Vice President Jallow along with other dignitaries, were taken on a tour of the exhibition site. Renowned maritime Transport and Logistics Companies from across the world, welcomed delegates and members of the public to their tents with the hope of attracting customers and business partners.
Wednesday’s event was preceded by a site visit to the GPA grounds in Banjul on Tuesday.

Over the course of the three days, delegates are expected to network, share business ideas and experiences, as well as explore investment opportunities in the Gambia.
