POLICY IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING

The responsibility for health and safety is inseparable from other activities of the Authority. The Managing Director shall have overall responsibility for the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Health, Safety, and Environment issues of the Authority.

 3.1 The Managing Director

The Managing Director shall be responsible for the implementation of the Health, Safety, and Environment Policy of the Authority

3.2 Director Of Marine And Harbours Services/Harbour Master

This Officer shall be responsible for all matters regarding Marine Safety, pollution, and related Environmental issues in the port.

 3.3 The Head Of Medical Services

He shall be responsible for the management of all occupational Health related matters. He shall undertake regular medical examinations of all employees to detect the incidence of occupationally related health and safety diseases. He shall also organize educational fora for employees on occupational health and safety issues.

3.4 The Safety Manage

He shall be responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, advising and reporting all matters relating to Occupational Health and Safety including accidents and Fire related incidents in the port.

3.5 Director Of Traffic Operations

The DTO in conjunction with the Security Manager Shall be responsible to ensure that port operators and customers undertake their activities in compliance with the requirements of the Health, Safety, and Environment Policy of the Authority

3.6 The Traffic Manager (Stevedoring)

He shall be responsible for the safe conduct of the Authority’s stevedoring operations.

 3.7 The Traffic Manager (Planning)

He shall be responsible for allocating only safe operable equipment and competent operators in all terminal operations and ensuring safe plant/equipment operating practices

 3.8 The Director OF Technician Services

He shall be responsible for the maintenance of all Plants, Equipment, and Vehicles. He shall release to the plant pool only equipment that does not leak oil, emit excessive smoke and fumes, or pollute the environment.

3.9 Estate Manager

He shall be responsible for all aspects of civil infrastructure to ensure roads, access ways, sheds and terminals are well maintained for movement of persons and mobile equipment.
