The 5th of July marked a historic milestone for The Gambia Ports, with the official foundation stone laying ceremony for the Sanyang Deep Sea Port. His Excellency, the President of the Republic of The Gambia Adama Barrow, presided over the ceremony, joined by senior government officials, GPA leadership, community representatives, and residents of Kombo South who gathered to witness the beginning of this transformative project.
The Sanyang Deep Sea Port is a major investment in The Gambia’s maritime infrastructure. Once completed, it will feature state-of-the-art deep-water berths, modern cargo handling systems, and expanded storage facilities. This port will significantly boost the country’s capacity for international trade, reduce shipping and transit times, and create employment opportunities.
“This project is a testament to our commitment to continue to excel as a leading maritime center for trade logistics and distribution”, MD Jobarteh. The Sanyang Deep Sea Port will open new avenues for economic growth, attract foreign investment, and transform The Gambia into a major trade hub in the sub-region.
